This special SELF-PACED session of MAKE VIDEOS - 30 DAYS OF CREATIVE FUN offers five projects to inspire and motivate you to try different shooting & editing techniques and encourage you to tell various stories through video.

Each project provides lots of inspiration, tips & tricks to spark the creation of your videos. From telling the story of your day to creating fun stop motions. Showing the world around you and making video portraits, plus how-to demonstrations and celebrating the little moments in your life.

There are so many stories you can tell!. I’ll be sharing my process and the key points to guide you through your projects. It’s packed with information & inspiration to get you creating.

What this course will do, is equip you to shoot amazing content and edit together the type of videos you want to make. That could be films of your life and family, telling your story and making videos for FUN!. Or you can make videos to promote your small business or brand e.g. make stop motions of your products or time lapses and behind the scenes of your process or mini videos of events and the story of your brand. There is so much scope for creating through video.

Every video you make will help you go on to create even more videos… with more knowledge, experience and confidence.

SO… HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

During the course, there will be the opportunity for you to create multiple videos, using the five projects as your guide.

Each project will focus on a different idea/prompt to spark your creativity, through experimentation & play. There will be shooting or editing techniques to practice while creating your video. I will share examples to inspire and offer tips and guidance for planning and shooting each project.
The schedule – The number of videos you make for each project is entirely up to you. I will share a recommended schedule for those who like to follow that structure, but you’re also welcome to create at your own pace. All the course materials are available at the start of the session.
For the editing – You will have access to step by step tutorials on the basics of how to start editing, with an overview in programs suitable for Mac & PC and iOS & Android.
Your finished video projects can be shared on Instagram or TikTok via the course hashtag #createvideoswithxanthe. Participants can ask questions within the course site and over on the @createvideoswithxanthe Instagram account.

FIVE VIDEO PROJECTS

Make as many videos as you like for each project.

DAY IN THE LIFE - A chance to document your everyday life into daily videos. Shoot one day or a few in row, as you can learn so much from the daily practice.

STOP MOTION - Play with creating a stop motion or even a few. Once you start, you’ll want to keep experimenting with this playful medium.

SHOW MY WORLD - Capture the world around you through video portraits of people or places and use music & audio to add another layer to the story.

HOW-TO - Demonstrate an activity and find different ways to shoot and edit it. You can keep it simple with a one shot capture or level up with multiple shots and shooting techniques, plus add text and a voiceover.

CELEBRATE NOW - Make small video vignettes of beautiful moments, memories or anything that celebrates the things you love to do.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED...

To set aside some time to shoot and edit each project. How much time is up to you, it will depend on how many videos you’d like to make.
Any camera can be used. If you’re not that familiar with it, you’ll need time practice and play, as I won’t be covering all technical aspects of specific cameras. The shooting part of the course offers tips and guidance on how and what to shoot. Please feel free to use your favourite camera, whether it’s a DSLR, compact camera or mobile device…or a combination.
A computer or phone to edit on. You will get a great introduction to editing, enabling you to get started and complete each video. You’ll be shown the basics to use the desktop version of CapCut (Mac and PC) - which is available for free. Plus, apps for editing on a phone. You’re welcome to use your favourite editing program if you prefer.
Access to the internet to view the course content. The course materials will be shared here on my online learning site. Our community will be sharing their videos on Instagram and TikTok and members of the course can ask questions on the course lessons, via email or during the Live Q&As hosted on the @createvideoswithxanthe Instagram account.
ADDITIONAL EXTRA – Music for your videos could be an extra expense. I will share places to source music for free, but it’s worth considering purchasing a subscription to a copyright free music library for ease with finding music. Or if you’re just loading to Instagram and TikTok, you can use the music there.
and lastly, but probably most importantly… a commitment to experiment, make lots of videos and have fun!

SOME QUESTIONS THAT MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH YOUR MIND….

How is this course different from your previous courses?

This MAKE VIDEOS - 30 day Challenge course is an updated version of my original online courses. It will cover some elements found in the previous MAKE VIDEOS and Handmade Film Making course and other courses, but all of the materials have been updated and developed specifically for this course, with a focus on creating simple video content, well suited for quick viewing and online sharing through Instagram and TikTok.

I've taken a course with you before, so I'm not sure if this course will benefit me.

If you’ve already taken courses with me, you will already know a lot of the shooting and editing information, so only join if you’d like to build on the skills you’ve already learnt. Or if you’re looking for motivation to continue making videos or get back into the flow if you’ve had a break from creating. If you took either the MAKE VIDEOS or Handmade Film Making in previous years, then this updated version would be a great refresher, please contact me for a special alumni rate for previous participants.

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to video, is this course for me?

Yes, this course is for all levels. From just starting out with video… to those who have more experience and would like a creative boost to make more videos.

I can't commit to creating multiple videos for 30 days!

It can be really good to have a challenge and focus, to stay inspired. It’s amazing how you can really improve your skills by committing to creating regularly. However it’s entirely up to you, as to how many videos you create. There’s a suggested schedule of at least one video for each project but you can work through the course at your own pace. Obviously the more involved you are, and the more you create, the better the experience will be.

I only have an iPhone or mobile device; can I make videos with this?

Absolutely! Simple and brilliant videos can be created with these devices. All of the projects can be produced brilliantly on a phone.

I’ve never shot video on my camera, will there be technical advice for this?

I will be sharing tips on how I shoot with the cameras I have – DSLR and iPhone. There will be enough for you to get started and have an understanding of the settings needed but there won’t be guidance for specific models of cameras. There will be plenty of encouragement to play and experiment with your camera, however the focus isn’t technical. There are plenty of technical tutorials available online, should you require it.

I have never edited a video before, will I be able to follow along?

Yes, I will share basic tutorials in the desktop version of CapCut (Mac and PC) - which is available for free. Plus, apps for editing on iPhone & Android. All this information will definitely be enough for you to get started.

Is there a set time to be in class? Do I have to stick to deadlines for the projects?

Everyone works at different paces and in different timezones, so there's no set time to be in the online space to view the course materials or submit your videos. All the course materials are available at the start of the session, for you to work through at your own pace. There’s a suggested schedule for video creation, and the community will be sharing their videos on Instagram and TikTok. The only set scheduled events are the Live Q&As hosted on the @createvideoswithxanthe Instagram account. These will be limited during the self-paced session.

I’d like to take part, but I don’t want to share my videos online?

You are absolutely able to take part and not share any of your work online. You’re welcome to be part of the group to view other members work, to get inspired and to ask questions, with no pressure to share. We will be sharing our films on Instagram and TikTok for those that want to. Many participants create a new accounts just to share their videos and be part of the community, if they don’t want to share their videos on their main account.

I’m not sure I have enough time to make videos?

Life is busy, with work and life commitments. I know this. But I know when I make pockets of time to do creative projects, the rewards are HUGE! A lot of these projects can be tackled in a small amount of time… how much time you put into the course is up to you. It’s always worth it!
