What is The WEEK IN MY LIFE Project?

A 12-day guided experience to help you document your everyday and turn one ordinary week into a meaningful video.

Throughout 2025, I made 52 Week In The Life videos. Showing up week after week to film, edit, and find a story taught me so much about what really matters when documenting real life. This project is built from that lived experience, and I’d love to share it with you.

So many of us video little bits and pieces of our lives - our morning cuppa, a smile from a family member, a favourite dog walk, a quiet moment at home. But when it comes to turning those moments into a story, it can feel surprisingly hard.

This project is about slowing that process down and making it simple. Over 12 days, I’ll guide you through filming one intentional week of your life and shaping it into a Week In My Life video you’ll treasure for years to come.

HOW IT WORKS -

Days 1–2: Prepare without overthinking

We’ll look at what makes a good Week In My Life video, how to keep filming easy and natural, and how to let go of perfection before you start. You’ll set an intention for your week and get clear on what you want to notice and remember and the type of WITL video you'd like to make. We’ll also prepare the tools you’ll shoot on and explore simple ways to capture the scenes in front of you.

Days 3–9: Film for a whole week intentionally

Each day, you’ll receive a prompt to guide your filming. One day might focus on mornings, another on evenings, movement, routines, or connection. You’ll also have one or two anchor moments to capture every day, creating natural rhythm and continuity across the week.

Alongside this, I’ll encourage you to bring your footage into your editing timeline daily, with small, manageable tips. By shaping the edit as you go, it will feel less overwhelming.

Days 10–12: Shape the story

Once the week is filmed, we’ll look at how to turn it into a story. Whether you choose a chronological edit or something more emotional and intuitive, I’ll guide you through different approaches, voiceover ideas, and the editing decisions behind some of my own Week In My Life videos.

By the end, you’ll have a finished video and a much clearer sense of how to do this again on your own.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED...

  • To set aside some time to shoot and edit your project. How much time is up to you, it will depend on your video creating experience and the type of video you’d like to make.

  • Any camera can be used. If you’re not that familiar with it, you’ll need time practice and play, as I won’t be covering all technical aspects of specific cameras. The shooting part of the course offers tips and guidance on how and what to shoot. Please feel free to use your favourite camera, whether it’s a DSLR, compact camera or mobile device…or a combination.

  • A computer or phone to edit on. You will get an introduction to editing, enabling you to get started and complete your video. You’ll be shown the basics to use the desktop version of CapCut (Mac and PC) - which is available for free. And I'll be sharing my edits in VLLO & Final Cut. You’re welcome to use your favourite editing program.

  • Access to the internet to view the course content. The course materials will be shared here on my online learning site. Some members of our community will be sharing their videos on Instagram and anyone can ask questions on the course lessons or via email.

  • ADDITIONAL EXTRA – Music for your videos could be an extra expense. I will share places to source music for free, but it’s worth considering purchasing a subscription to a copyright free music library for ease with finding music. Or if you’re just loading to Instagram, you can use the music there.

  • and lastly, but probably most importantly… a commitment to experiment and have fun while making your WITL video!

Why I’m so passionate about this project

For over a decade, I’ve been filming little slices of my life - the ordinary days as much as the extraordinary ones. Looking back, it’s never the polished, perfect videos that mean the most. It’s the simple clips that take me right back: the way the boys made breakfast, the quiet of a bike ride, the first swim of the season.

Lately, with so much content in the world feeling curated or even artificially generated, I keep coming back to the real stuff. The human stuff. The beauty of life as it actually is.

This project is my way of helping you do the same - to notice your world, feel more connected to it, and create something that will mean so much more in years to come.

DURING THE COURSE YOU'LL GET

Simple lessons to follow at your own pace - Thoughtful course materials to inspire you as you learn how to shoot and edit your Week In My Life video.

Inspiration and gentle guidance - Plenty of encouragement to keep you noticing and capturing, without overwhelm.

Ideas for what to capture - Little nudges to help you see the beauty in the ordinary moments you might otherwise overlook.

Creative momentum and a low-pressure, playful approach - Because doing something small each day is often how a habit sticks.

A Note From Me

Over the years, I’ve made thousands of videos - from quiet Mondays to lazy Sundays, weekly vlogs and month-long memories, full of family fun, solo adventures, rainy mornings, and golden evenings. They’re not perfect, and they don’t need to be. What they do is hold a moment in time. And when I look back, I’m always grateful I pressed record.

This project is a chance for you to do the same. To build a gentle practice, collect the details of your life, and create something that will mean even more in the months and years to come.

Why the everyday matters (and who this is for)

Life isn’t made up of big trips, big events, or big milestones. It’s mostly made of moments that slip by quietly. That walk you take every day. The way the light hits the wall at 7am. The dinner you’ve cooked a hundred times. The breakfasts, the rain on the window, the sunrise, the way your pet curls up on your lap.

Capturing these moments now, even if they’re rough or imperfect, means you get to keep them forever. These are the things that make your life yours.

This project is for anyone who wants to start (or restart) a creative habit, capture memories that will matter in years to come, feel more present in their daily life, and let go of “perfect” in favour of simply making something.

Whether you’re brand new to video or already make them, this is about paying attention, practising, and being playful.

Ready to start?

Join the project and spend 12 days capturing the beauty in your ordinary.

Because these moments - the small, fleeting, everyday ones - are the ones you’ll miss most if they pass undocumented.

SOME QUESTIONS THAT MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH YOUR MIND….

Is this the same as your other courses?

You might recognise this kind of project from previous courses of mine. But this challenge has its own fresh focus and a guided approach. So even if you’ve joined my other courses, it’s a great way to reset your creativity and make some a new video!.

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to video, is this for me?

Yes, it's for all levels. From just starting out with video… to those who have more experience and would like a creative boost to make more videos.

I can't commit to videoing every day!

It can be really good to have a challenge and focus, to stay inspired. It’s amazing how you can really improve your skills by committing to creating regularly. How you film and create is up to you, as you can work at your own pace. Obviously the more involved you are, and the more you create, the better the experience will be.

What kind of camera do I need?

Whatever you already have! A phone or a camera - it’s about the moments you capture, not the gear you use.

I’ve never shot video on my camera, will there be technical advice for this?

I will be sharing tips on how I shoot with the cameras I have – DSLR and iPhone. There will be enough for you to get started and have an understanding of the settings needed but there won’t be guidance for specific models of cameras. There will be plenty of encouragement to play and experiment with your camera, however the focus isn’t technical. There are plenty of technical tutorials available online, should you require it.

Do I need editing experience?

I’ll guide you through simple ways to put your clips together, even if you’ve never edited a video before.

I will share basic tutorials in CapCut (phone & desktop) which is available for free.

Is there a set time to be online? Do I have to stick to deadlines for the projects?

Everyone works at different paces and in different timezones, so there's no set time to be in the online space to view the course materials or submit your video. All the initial materials are available on the start date, for you to work through at your own pace. There’s a suggested schedule for video creation if you'd like to complete your video in the 12 days, but you're also welcome to create at your pace.

I’d like to take part, but I don’t want to share my videos online?

You are absolutely able to take part and not share any of your work online. You’re welcome to get inspired and to ask questions, with no pressure to share.

I’m not sure I have enough time to make a WITL video?

Life is busy, with work and life commitments. I know this. But I know when I make pockets of time to do creative projects, the rewards are HUGE! Your video can be created in a small amount of time. How much time you put in is up to you. It’s always worth it!

Do I need to film every single day?

Not at all! but if you'd like to get a flavour of your life at the moment, it's recommended to shoot something each day for the whole week. But this an invitation, not a rulebook. Life happens - dip in and out, or film a few days and still get the full experience. Or you're welcome to go all in and document something every day!

What if my life feels boring right now?

Perfect! This project is about noticing the small things that often go unseen - the everyday stuff that ends up meaning the most.
